BRO is a free and open-source social communication platform. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Account Information
When you create a BRO account, we collect:
- Username — your public display name
- Email address — for account identification and recovery
- Display name — your real or preferred name
- Profile information — bio, avatar, interests (optional)
This data is processed by Clerk (https://clerk.com), our authentication provider. Clerk stores and processes your account data on their servers in accordance with their Privacy Policy.
Message and Conversation Data
- Messages you send and receive
- Conversation metadata (participants, timestamps, branch structure)
- Attachments (images, files) you upload
This data is stored on BRO’s backend servers and is encrypted in transit.
Device Information
- Device type and operating system version (for compatibility)
- Push notification tokens (for delivery of notifications)
We do not collect:
- Precise location data
- Contact lists
- Phone number (unless voluntarily provided)
- Usage analytics or tracking data
- Advertising identifiers
2. How We Use Your Data
- Authentication: To verify your identity and keep you signed in securely
- Communication: To deliver your messages, notifications, and updates
- Account Management: To provide and improve BRO services
